Arrival of line E of the RER at La Défense from 2022
The Eole project consists of extending the current RER E line by 55 km westwards, from the Haussmann Saint-Lazare station to the Mantes-la-Jolie station via the business district of La Défense and Nanterre. 47 km of existing tracks between Mantes-la-Jolie (Line J Paris-Mantes via Poissy) and Nanterre will be upgraded and modernised. An 8 km tunnel will be dug between La Défense and Haussmann Saint-Lazare, the current terminus of the RER E.
The project is accompanied by the creation of 3 stations (at Porte Maillot, La Défense-CNIT and Nanterre La Folie) and will cross 3 departments (Paris, Hauts-de-Seine and Yvelines). In total, more than 620,000 passengers per day will benefit from this new line when it is fully operational in 2024.
Creation of the new station on line E: La Défense-CNIT
Located in the heart of the La Défense business district, the future station of the "CNIT-La Défense" E line will make a major contribution to the development of the business district: a new generation line, more trains, a new station whose impressive volumes will accommodate large passenger flows. It will be IDF's most interconnected line, particularly at La Défense with (Transilien/RER A lines, T2, metro Line 1 and the future GPE Line 15...). A more direct and more direct link with the airports...
The future Eole station will be located under the CNIT, at a depth of more than 30m, and links and connections with the district and other transport lines will be facilitated. On level C of the CNIT, a new interchange hall will be created at the same level as the existing one called "Cœur de Transport" and connected to it by the current passage. This new room will communicate with the upper levels of the CNIT, but also with the forecourt, Place Carpeaux and the extension of the forecourt on the Trinity side.
Access to the RER E platforms will be from a mezzanine level (level J) overlooking the platforms, thanks to the various fixed staircases, escalators and elevators that will be installed there. This level will constitute an exchange room to which the main accesses and connections will converge: RER A, tramway, Transilien L & U lines, exits to the outside and to level C of the CNIT.
The new CNIT-La Défense E line station will be put into service in 2022, providing access to eastern Paris and the future Nanterre-la-Folie station to the west. Then, in 2024, it will be fully operational as far as Mantes-la-Jolie.
