After having traced the history of propaganda and met the great figures of the French court of the 18th century, the "Lundis de l'Histoire" offer you to relive the birth of the Republic in France through the major figure of Danton.

These conferences on the theme "Danton and the birth of the Republic" organized by the Cité de l'Histoire as part of the "History Mondays" will exceptionally take place on Tuesday. Go to the ticket office to book your Tuesdays April 4, 11 and 18, 2023 with the historian Loris Chavanette.

Thanks to three exceptional evenings you will learn more about Danton, a figure of the French Revolution. A lawyer from the bourgeoisie, Danton became one of the architects of the First Republic of which he was a minister and then a deputy. In the same way as Robespierre, Danton has remained in the collective imagination a political monster embodying two sides of the Revolution. He marked history by the power of his speech and his commitment to the Revolution. He will finally have a tragic fate since he will be guillotined at the end of 1794.
