Affiche Jour-J Cité de l'Histoire

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings, the Cité de l’Histoire presents its new theme “Jour-J” starting June 6, 2024. A unique show and new exhibition spaces will pay tribute to the courage of the Allied soldiers. Come experience an immersive landing with your family!

Starting June 6, 2024, visitors to the Cité de l’Histoire will be able to discover a brand new theme commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings. This is the third 360° immersive show since the opening of the Cité in January 2023, following those on the writer Victor Hugo and the Musketeers. Ready to travel back in time? Join us for a journey through history that will transport you to the heart of the action!

A 360° show and new spaces

Travel back in time with an unprecedented video show, projected in the flagship attraction of the Cité de l’Histoire: the 360° Ellipse. You will enjoy an unparalleled immersive and educational experience that will take you directly to 1944. The projection will blend archival images and sounds that recreate the intensity of the emotions of those who fought.

In parallel with the 360° show, the Cité de l’Histoire will inaugurate new exhibition spaces, in partnership with World of Tanks. You will discover the iconic figures of the Normandy Landings, as well as the main tanks of the era. To further the immersion, a map room will allow visitors to explore a projection space to relive the events of June 6, 1944.

To ensure that younger visitors also enjoy the visit through an accessible version of history, giant dioramas made of LEGO® and COBI® bricks will be featured, along with a meditation space with fun and educational activities.

Since its opening, the Cité de l’Histoire also offers two other immersive experiences:

  • The “Key to the Centuries” tour, which includes 17 rooms exploring the History of France;
  • The interactive timeline “The Hallway of Time,” which will be revamped for the occasion to better understand World War II and the Allied landing operations through fifty key dates and archival images.
