« Agnès de Nanteuil, une résistante française », conférence à la Cité de l’Histoire

On Wednesday June 12, 2024, a new conference will be held at the Cité de l'Histoire. The evening will provide an opportunity to discover or rediscover the French Resistance fighter Agnès de Nanteuil, thanks to historian Christophe Carichon.

Christophe Carichon will be at the Cité de l'Histoire on Wednesday June 12, 2024, to host a lecture on the history of French Resistance fighter Agnès de Nanteuil. Born in 1922, Agnès de Nanteuil joined the Resistance, following in her parents' footsteps. She initially helped her mother run an exfiltration network for Allied airmen, before becoming a liaison officer for the man known as Colonel Morice, head of the resistance in Morbihan.
Arrested in early 1944 on denunciation, she was imprisoned and tortured by the Gestapo for several months. In August 1944, she was deported to Germany, but the prisoner convoy was mistaken for a military convoy by the Allies, who machine-gunned it. She died of her wounds before her twenty-second birthday.
Along with Joan of Arc, Agnès de Nanteuil is one of the only women to be godmother of a class of Saint-Cyr officer cadets (XXVIth class of the École militaire du corps technique et administratif, 2002-2003).
