Creation of a medical centre in the former "Buref" Centre.
Jan 15, 2021 - Jul 31, 2022
At the beginning of the year, Paris La Défense began restructuring and extending the former "Buref" centre, which will eventually become a medical centre comprising a medical centre, an imaging centre and a pharmacy.
At the junction of the Place des Reflets and the Reflets district, between a 'entrepont' (an under-slab service area for deliveries) and the pedestrian level, Paris La Défense began work at the beginning of 2021 to create a medical centre in an unoccupied volume on several levels, which will be at the service of the area's inhabitants and users. The public spaces located on the outskirts of this operation will also be redeveloped.
The project
Designed by the Parisian firm Hélène Fricout-Cassignol Architects, commissioned by Paris La Défense, the centre will be around 1,000 sq. m. with a health centre linked to the Foch hospital in Suresnes, an imaging centre and a pharmacy.
This future health centre is part of the former Buref shopping centre, built in the 1970s and unoccupied for several years. In line with its strategy of enhancing the value of the volumes under the slab, Paris La Défense has therefore launched a rehabilitation project to revive this place and offer services open to all. From 2022 onwards, several health services will gradually be opened to the public.
As regards the layout of the public areas, the plan is to link the two levels from the patio with the creation of a lift and a staircase allowing vertical distribution between the tween the tween-deck level and the slab level. Above the former Buref shopping centre, a glass roof served as natural lighting for the entrance hall. It will be removed to make way for a green terrace of around 180 m².
Work schedule
Paris La Défense is involved in the rehabilitation of the volume. Among the initial works, the cleaning work which consisted in removing the non-load-bearing elements in the building and the removal of asbestos from the premises. The demolition work currently being undertaken includes all interior and exterior demolition. This phase of demolition is currently causing noise pollution. We apologise for any inconvenience. This demolition phase will be completed by 8 March 2021 at the latest.

The empty hulls will be delivered in the summer of 2021. The interior work will then be carried out by the lessees themselves for a gradual opening by 2022.
This project is part of the public establishment's strategy to rehabilitate unoccupied volumes, but it is also part of its strategy to set up in the Les Reflets district daily services, diversified and dedicated in particular to the inhabitants. On the Esplanade Nord, numerous projects to liven up the area are being launched: for example, the Pavillon du projet Aurore will offer a brasserie open to all, and the completely renovated Place de l'Iris will also host two restaurant chains.
