Urban Week at Paris La Défense

If there is one event that marks the start of the new school year in Paris La Défense, it is Urban Week!

For 5 days, from Wednesday 22 September to Sunday 26 September 2021, the Parvis de Paris La Défense will be, for the 8th edition, the backdrop of street culture where street art will find its full artistic expression.

In the heart of the Parvis de La Défense, at the foot of the Grande Arche and facing the CNIT and the Westfield Les 4 Temps shopping centre, 5,000 to 7,000 sq.m. of space will be devoted to live street art.

A vast blank canvas where street artists, graffiti artists, designers and sportsmen will express themselves in the open air and offer the public a range of ephemeral works where creativity will be omnipresent.

Urban Week gives artists the opportunity to create their works live, creating an incredible outdoor exhibition where everyone can unleash their inspiration with colours, shapes and supports.

The creators exhibit their street art techniques, offer the public the opportunity to exchange ideas and take part in workshops on stencilling and customising objects, a way of discovering their world.

As you will have understood, the festival honours urban art in all its forms: street art, free cultural exhibitions and urban market, a real melting pot of creators, designers, tattoo artists, nail art, musicians and fashion designers.

The designers' alley is the ideal place to find the latest fashion and design trends, the opportunity to discover and acquire unique works, objects and accessories... Urban Week is also the place to be for street sports, with BMX shows, breakdance battles, skateboarding, trainers and other demonstrations open to all for free.

This exceptional playground, dedicated to urban sports, transforms the heart of the business district into a huge playground for a few days.

Street food lovers will not be left out, the food court offers a diverse and varied gastronomy where you can discover culinary specialities from all over the world. Thanks to the Food Trucks, gourmandise comes to you with its mobile restaurants.

It's time to savour the last of the sunny days, the last of the outdoor evenings to the sound of live concerts and DJ sets in the evening, as an afterwork, with family or friends.

Back to Urban Week 2020

In 2020 "Urban Week Paris La Défense", a street culture festival honouring urban art in all its forms, continued its 7th edition during a unique and free experience. Nearly 55,000 visitors took part in this great street art festival.

Born in 2014, this festival marks the beginning of the September season and is now part of all regional and national cultural agendas. In the heart of the square in front of La Défense, at the foot of the Grande Arche, opposite the CNIT and the Westfield Les 4 temps, Urban Week was set up in a 6,500 sq.m. open-air space.

You were able to discover live street art, where artists, creators, designers and sportsmen and women met up with as many people as possible to share street art in all its expressions. A colourful programme marked this 7th edition through artistic and sporting performances, an opportunity for the many visitors to discover a unique experience, entirely free of charge.

Among the highlights: the Saato project and the Underground Effect brought together street artists from the 4 corners of the globe who created live works, exhibited in free access. The playground area hosted a basketball court and a skate park offering demonstrations and urban performances where everyone could learn about street sports, all animated by pro-riders and professional athletes.

The designer's alley exhibited the latest fashion and design trends, highlighting eco-responsible and made in France initiatives, a great opportunity for everyone to acquire unique pieces.

The food court brought together a selection of food trucks serving continuously from 11:30 am onwards, for the duration of Urban Week. World cuisine and good products made everyone's mouth water, including 3 open-air bars for afterwork drinks and food breaks.
