Paris La Défense Arena relaunches a cold weather plan for the homeless

Paris La Défense Arena, in partnership with the French Red Cross and the Hauts-de-Seine Prefecture, is providing a space within the largest auditorium in Europe to shelter isolated people in case of extreme cold or emergency.

Still bearable until now, the cold is back. This is bad news for the homeless who have to make do with extremely difficult living conditions. Paris La Défense Arena has therefore decided to reiterate its "Plan Grand Froid" operation, a solidarity initiative that provides temporary accommodation for 35 homeless people, on evenings when its space is not required for a match or a concert.

Guided by the Service Intégré et d'Orientation des Hauts-de-Seine (SIAO 92) and piloted by the French Red Cross, the scheme will provide a sleeping area with 35 beds, hygiene kits, sanitary facilities with showers, meal baskets, a kitchen area with refrigerators, microwave ovens, tables and chairs.

On the financial side, the costs incurred by the association will be the subject of a specific subsidy from the State. As for Paris La Défense Arena, it has undertaken to cover all costs related to the use of the premises (heating, lighting, water, fire safety, maintenance, etc.).

This decision is the result of a common will of the public establishment Paris La Défense and Paris La Défense Arena, but above all of a spirit of solidarity. Let's make mutual aid the watchword of this new year!
