Oxygen

Oxygen

The result of a consultation launched by Paris-La Défense in 2018, the OXYGEN program aims to restructure and energize the southern gateway to the district. It is an atypical garden that stands out for its innovative approach to landscaping. The Oxygen Garden is a real green lung in the middle of the towers of La Défense. It offers a wide variety of plants and flowers, some of which are rare or endangered, as well as a fountain that brings a touch of coolness in summer. The park is also equipped with benches, picnic tables and shaded areas to allow visitors to rest and enjoy nature outdoors. Finally, the Oxygen Garden is a place of ecological experimentation that uses organic growing techniques and sustainable materials to minimize its impact on the environment.

This project is part of the overall strategy to transform the business district into a living district. The project, which mixes restaurant offerings, event space and coworking space, aims to go beyond the traditional image of the office district to create a hybrid place. The footbridge, which offers a breathtaking view of Neuilly-sur-Seine and Paris, is now accompanied by vegetation alternating between flowering perennials and grasses and offers a color palette that changes with the seasons. The planters are home to shrubs such as serviceberry, winged fusain, spearwort and Japanese quince, as well as flowering perennials and tall (calamagrostis) and low (stipa tenuifolia) grasses.

This space was awarded the Eco-garden label in 2022.
