Jardin des Continents

Jardin des Continents

Located near the Terrasses Boieldieu, the Jardin des Continents (2018) is one of the three shared gardens of Paris la Défense. Its creation benefited from a co-construction process in which about a hundred employees and residents imagined these new gardens as a place for exchange, relaxation and sharing.

The Jardin des Continents combines a number of advantages: an unobstructed view of Paris and the towers of La Défense, the calm of a space set back from the main thoroughfares, a terrace and a garden with an ideal exposure for developing a variety of plantings, including trellised fruit trees. Aromatics, perennials, berries, vegetables and small fruit trees pruned in a palmette shape make up the crops, which are installed directly on the slab (addition of topsoil) or in raised containers, or on the ground.

The employees take advantage of their lunch break to enjoy a moment of gardening in peace and quiet, and to reconnect with nature. The inhabitants take advantage of the quiet evenings, Saturdays and Sundays to take over. Small educational slates indicate the name and origin of the plants, in relation to the continent they represent. The pathway is covered with walnut shells, which form an ecological and recycled soil, while being infiltrating and nourishing. A compost bin invites you to deposit your biowaste to improve the crops.

This space has been labeled eco-garden in 2022.
