The La Sirène project includes a housing complex (130) and a fire station. Originally commissioned to Pierre Bompaix, the project was finally entrusted by the latter to Guillaume Gilet.
The multiplication of terraces recalls the seaside architecture of the 1960-1970's, notably the Baie des Anges Marina.
A word about the architect
Grand Prix de Rome in 1946, Guillaume Gillet (1912-1987) signed two buildings emblematic of post-war French architecture: the church of Notre-Dame de Royan and the French pavilion at the Universal Exhibition in Brussels.
Author of numerous housing buildings and prisons, the architect was also a committed player. In 1972, he took a stand in the columns of Le Figaro against the construction of the Gan Tower from the perspective of the Louvre. Hostile to the abandonment of the 1956 town planning scheme, fixing the towers at a certain height, he carried out a unique project at La Défense: the La Sirène housing complex.
