Acting in a framework pre-determined by the master plan of La Défense, Henry Bernard is organising the apartment building with a more open interior space of the Palais-Royal type in order to provide a maximum of views over the district.
One of the three buildings is built, according to the original plans, on stilts. The two others are finally built according to Henri La Fonta, without stilts.

A word about the architect

Henry Bernard won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1938, and his artwork was used to rebuild the city of Caen. In 1953, he won the competition for the Maison de la Radio in Paris. He subsequently signed other public buildings and urban plans. Advisor to Paul Delouvrier for the master plan for the Paris region, the architect was supported by André Malraux in his reflections on the urban planning of the capital.
At La Défense, Henry Bernard played an advisory role on the Manhattan Tower project and, at the request of Cogédim, designed the Manhattan Square residence.
