Whale Street - Oakoak

Oakoak, Whale Street

Emblematic of its artistic approach, OakOak hijacks the geometry of a ventilation shaft in Paris La Défense to transform it into a whale. Underlining both the importance of protecting endangered spaces and the need to reinforce the place of nature in urban spaces, the presence of Whale Street in the Saisons district is a playful and humorous reminder of the need to preserve biodiversity.

A word about the artist

Since his first stencils in 2006, OaKoAk's ephemeral works (pronounced "wak wak") capture the imperfections of streets or walls and play with them to better divert them. OaKoAk uses object installations, collages and also drawings. Graffiti, which he does less, is often reserved for his signature. Urban details are scanned by his mischievous mind and staged with malice. A Monopoly box in the middle of a Chicago street, a Modern Times Charlot in front of the apparent machinery of a building, staircases transformed into pianos, parrots in the dustbins of Paris, not to mention the little men who play acrobats on the elements of the cities...
