Le Visage [The Face] - Fabio Rieti
Fabio Rieti (b. 1925), Le Visage [The Face], ceramics, stoneware, marble, 1985
This marble mosaic, created in 1985 as part of the development of the entrance to the Centre Grande Arche car park, depicts a woman's face, the details of which become clearer the higher up you go.
Another artwork by Rieti is present at La Défense: Anamorphosis.
Fabio Rieti, born in Rome in 1925, is primarily a colourist. In his urban work (the false windows of Beaubourg, the pedestrian of the Halles...), he enhances architecture with coloured facades in glass paste mosaics. His range of earth, sky and sea colours exalts the poetic sense of place. His artwork also adapts to the light of underground or open-air spaces by delivering a palette of nuances, bringing harmony.
