In the footsteps of our fathers - Jozef Jankovic

Jozeph Jankovic (b. 1937), Dans les traces de nos pères [In the footsteps of our fathers], concrete, polyester composite, paint, 1988

An exhibition at La Défense on Czech and Slovakian art gave the Epad the idea of calling on the talent of Jozef Jankovic. The result is a lyrical and contemporary artwork, full of emotion, depicting children springing from their parents' legs. This artwork is made of polyester and painted concrete.

A word about the artist

Jozef Jankovic was born in 1937 in Slovakia. After studying sculpture at the School of Fine Arts in Bratislava, he made stone and polyester his favourite materials, while at the same time perfecting his computer drawing skills. He is equally at home in monumental artworks and in jewellery making, and has a keen sense of detail. The human remains his main source of inspiration, which he stages in 27 of his visions expressing violence and disillusionment.
