Meeting Father Christmas
When you think of a Christmas market, you think of Father Christmas. Go and meet the affable man along the market aisles or meet him at Santa's chalet next to his sleigh to give him your Christmas list... without forgetting to immortalise this unforgettable memory with a photo. It's time to put on your "ugly" jumper, the kitschy, cheesy Christmas jumper that has become a sartorial rallying point for the occasion.
You probably don't know this, but the first traces of Christmas markets date back to the 14th century in Germany, when they were better known as "St Nicholas markets". A tradition that has stood the test of time and been perpetuated over the centuries to become the contemporary markets as we know them today, with a little old-fashioned touch that makes them so charming. The La Défense Christmas market, despite its young age, can boast of having welcomed over 1.5 million visitors in 2019.
