The Manhattan Tower is the result of an order process brought by Henry Bernard. It is indeed he who advised Cogédim for the realization of two towers that will become one under the expertise of Michel Herbet and Michel Proux. The edifice expresses the original gemelity but the two volumes are linked by curved walls that contrast with the dominant orthogonality of the towers in the neighbourhood.
The perfectly smooth glass façades change colour as the light changes, giving the tower a certain originality.
A word about the architects
Known to be one of the main artwork masters of the Beaugrenelle district, located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, Michel Proux is familiar with slab urbanism. He worked with Michel Holley on the Olympiads in the capital's 13th arrondissement.
In 1974, in the midst of the Beaugrenelle project, which he took over after the death of Raymond Lopez in 1966, he joined forces with Demonès and Srot to launch Défense 2000. Far from stopping there, he collaborated, on Henry Bernard's proposal, with Michel Herbert on an original project for La Défense: the Manhattan Tower.
