The Ellipse building, as its name suggests, is presented on a quarter-circular plan, associated at the back with a semi-pyramidal volume allowing the north-facing offices to enjoy daylight. Built in 1974, the building was completely restructured in 2000 by Jean Hanemian, who gave it an entirely glazed façade. This curved façade places it in the urban continuum of La Défense's office programme, establishing links between the neighbourhood and its immediate environment.
A word about the architects
Grison, Moritz & Ristorcelli is a Swiss architectural firm founded in 1999 by François Grison, Fabrice Moritz and Philippe Ristorcelli. Since its inception, the firm has worked on a wide variety of projects, ranging from the renovation of historic buildings to the design of high-rise buildings. All their projects combine modernity, functionality and attention to detail.
In 2000, Ellipse was completely restructured by Jean Hanemian, known for his modernist designs and contribution to 20th century French architecture. His most famous achievements include the library of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, the L'Oréal headquarters in Clichy and the Olympiades office complex. His contribution to French architecture has been recognized by numerous awards, including the Grand Prix National de l'Architecture in 2008.
